AVANT GARDE SNEAKER PROTOTYPE
The Vision prototype loafer was an experiment of how to turn a sneaker into an elevated dress shoe.
Starting from an old Nike golf sneaker found at a Goodwill, I stripped down layers of the leather covered
upper and the studded golf cleat sole to change the form to create a sleek, industrial, dress shoe/sneaker
hybrid. As for the finish, numerous graphics were applied through acetone transfer methods, and the painted
leather was melted with an iron to create streaks of white on the shoe. This chaotic style was largely inspired
by the avant-garde, and at times weathered designs of Maison Margiela. Lastly, in the place of laces, steel
chain links were used, as well as individual zipper teeth lining the sides where the chains were attached.
