CONCEPT NIKE SHOEBOX DESIGN
A concept Nike shoebox design targeted towards sneaker collectors who are tired of resellers
taking advantage of the sneaker market. In any realm of collectibles, there is an aftermarket for
people to sell certain items because they are more rare and limited than others. In the sneaker
market, whenever a hyped pair of shoes releases, resellers have been known to use bots to automate
their checkout process on websites, taking advantage of the system so they can buy multiple pairs
of the same high valued edition of shoes to sell for more.
This concept box design attempts to make it difficult for sellers to strategically buy a more
high valued colorway. For this specific design, I visualized one of my favorite sneaker releases from
Nike; three Lunar Forces in collaboration with Acronym. The design takes inspiration from collectible
blind boxes, giving the user a random chance of unboxing one of three pairs of shoes. This not only
makes it more challenging for resellers to capitalize on a more popular selling colorway, it also adds a
layer of interaction for collectors and makes purchasing rare sneakers more of an experience.
